New York: The Big Apple

Because we did so much in our New Jersey and New York trip, I had to split it in two posts. Have you seen the first post?

Welcome to

Midtown Manhattan

Today Show

We woke up at the crack of before dawn for the Today Show. It was the only part of the trip my aunt REALLY wanted to do and because it was HER birthday trip, we had to wake up before deep sleep hit.

We took an the metro into the city and made our way through to the north. Finally at Rockefeller Plaza!!!

I felt famous for a minute because I always make my way to the front of the bar rail. I was right behind the camera man and in the perfect view.

Since we were in the area, we decided to have a quick breakfast snack at the Rockefeller Center. We stopped by Cucina and Co. for a quick bite before our next adventure.

Timesquare

Our next stop was making our tummies happy. Lunch at the Hard Rock wasn’t so bad! Especially because I was trying to be somewhat healthy. (The salad in the middle is mine). It was decorated so nice, with all the diner-looking lights and an endless amount of space.

We walked around and ended up in the center of Timeshare, while they were filming a shot of Angry Birds. It was crazy crowded but the kids were happy with their new angry birds beanie hat. And I was satisfied with my Happy Socks.

If you only need my obsession with socks…

So M&M World is three stories of chocolatey goodness. It’s extremely colorful and offers all kinds of chocolate. It makes my tummy melt a little every time. I absolutely love this store.

Below are a few New York staples…

Next up, FAO Schwarz. Have you heard of it? Because up until this point, I hadn’t. It is the coolest toy store ever. They have live entertainment for certain toys they want to promote in different stations and it’s like viewing those tv commercials to purchase items you probably don’t need in real life.

We went to have some authentic cuban food at the Havana restaurant, and wow. It made me miss home a little bit, because my new peanut city doesn’t have authentic cuban dishes. And the photos won’t do justice. And of course, a blackberry mojito, because they’re my fave!

Now for some dessert. If “The World’s Most Fabulous Cheesecake” didn’t grab your attention, I don’t know what will. Junior’s has one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever tried in my life, right after those in The Cheesecake Factory. Founded in 1950, Junior’s is known as New York’s Best Cheesecake.

Onto the next adventure!

The Rockefeller Center is a beauty. We did a full 360 degrees, back to our morning start because we wanted to go ice skating. Once we got there, it was a little pricey… like $25 for an hour and a half and $18 for the skates, so $53 total for one person. Not worth it, maybe once, but not worth it today. So we just people watched. Yes, it’s a verb now. “People watched.”

Since we got a little sad, we went to go have a midnight snack before returning home. We couldn’t leave without Famous Original Ray’s Pizza, or really any pizza, from New York!!! I don’t have proof that this activity happened because I focused more on enjoying the moment this time around. Which I should do more often, but I just love taking pictures so much.

SO ANYWAY!

If you read all the way to here, you’re the best supporter ever! New York was such a fun time and in three days, I did SO much with my family. If I can do a good chunk of New York in three days with HEELS, you definitely can!
