Getting to Know Everyone at FIU in Spain

FIU in Spain is a study abroad program offered by Florida International University (FIU) that provides students with an immersive educational and cultural experience in Spain. The four-week program focuses primarily on Spanish language instruction, emphasizing conversational skills, grammar, and writing, while also incorporating unique academic components, such as the study of cathedral architecture.

What sets this program apart is its hands-on approach: every weekend, professors travel with students to different cities, offering a rich and varied perspective on Spain’s diverse regions, cultures, and histories.

Alongside classmates Sophia Cazañas, Fermín Morales, Tico Ginart, and myself (Melissa Cancio), we explored vibrant towns, shared unforgettable meals with our host families, and truly experienced the heart of Spain—one adventure at a time.
